After a long run as the best selling model in LG's line of front load washers, the venerable WM2010CW is on its way out to pasture. According to the LG website, this washer is still in production, however, it would appear as though supplies are limited. For instance, Home Depot, seemingly no longer carries this model. A search of many other online retailers seems to indicate that although some still do have some of this model in stock, they aren't giving out good deals on it.
The replacement for the WM2010CW appears to be the relatively new, and much improved, WM2140CW. With a size that is slightly larger than the older WM2010CW, and a few newer features not available on the older model, the WM2140CW sure seems like an upgrade over the WM2010CW.
According to the LG website, the WM2140CW has a slightly higher manufacturers suggested retail price than the older model. However, when surveying the marketplace, there tend to be much better sales and deals to be had for the newer model than the older. Hopefully the WM2140CW has the same durability and withstands the test of time as well as the WM2010CW has. Looking at some of the LG WM2010CW reviews that can be found out there it is apparent that this washer has left many satisfied customers in its time. Reading through some of the early LG WM2140CW reviews that can be found, it looks like this model is off to a good start.
There are a few others models that are no becoming increasingly hard to find on showroom floors and retailer warehouses. Currently the LG WM2101HW is the 2nd longest standing washer that LG has been making, according to their website. This model was one of the mid-sized models without any particular distinguishing features. Likewise, with little to distinguish it from some of the other older models that LG has offered is the LG WM2301HW. Seemingly the only difference between the WM2101 and WM2301 is .3 cubic feet of capacity, and a difference of $100 in MSRP.
One relatively older model that is unlikely to go anywhere for the near future, mainly because there isn't another model that LG currently offers to replace it is the LG WM1355HW. This model fills the niche market of the compact front loader for LG. At this time, LG seems to be focusing on capturing the interest of people wanting to purchase an entry level front loader, or a high end steam cleaning one. For example, Bosch, who offers fewer overall choices, offers more compact choices, like the Bosch WAS20160UC, which looks to be a somewhat better option in the compact front load washer class than the WM1355HW.
One model that has recently been fully discontinued by LG is the WM2050CW. This is another washer that before it's discontinuation, didn't really seem to serve a role for LG. It had the same capacity and approximately the same features as the WM2101HW, and also approximately the same price.
